[2023/02/08 15:06] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "A pleasure," Debbens smiles cheerfully, rolling with the greetings. "One man attemped to waylay us, but was unsuccessful in doing so."
[2023/02/08 15:08] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Good, good, glad you made it," she says, as she starts to fiddle with her pipe, lowering her voice. "Good, play along, these are simple folk who are wary of outsiders. They know me, so I thought I'd help you out." And, louder, "Time for something to eat and drink! The barkeeper can make any number of things to refresh you before sleeping tonight."
[2023/02/08 15:09] Alicia Frakture: Leesha smiles and decides to play along."It was a rough road but we made it!" AS she reaches for the bartender and if successful sweeps her in a hug."Enough about us, how have you been... it's been so long!"

[2023/02/08 15:13] Sonja Bikergrrl: As it becomes "obvious" to all that you're all "together", the farmers and peasants go back to their conversations and the murmur and hubbub rises again as everyone gets back to what they're doing.
[2023/02/08 15:14] Sonja Bikergrrl: She leads the way to a quiet(ish) corner table, guesturing to the barkeeper. "Two plates of your finest, and three ales, for my friends," she says, and the barkeeper nods and gets busy preparing things.
[2023/02/08 15:16] Alicia Frakture: Leesha follows and smiles as she sits down.
[2023/02/08 15:17] Sonja Bikergrrl: Debben?
[2023/02/08 15:19] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben takes a seat on the same side as Leesha. "Thank you," she offers, taking a moment to look over the types of folks in the crowd. No one asked about her spear, so presumably plenty of others here have weapons as well?
[2023/02/08 15:20] Sonja Bikergrrl: (It's not totally unusual for travellers to bear arms. It's a tough world out there, after all. Actually -using- those arms against someone is a different matter, however)
[2023/02/08 15:21] Sonja Bikergrrl: The barkeeper comes over with a tray of three ales, which he places down on the table, one before each. "The food will be along in a minute, that'll be five coppers." The woman takes her mug and has a sip, leaving you both to deal with the barkeeper.
[2023/02/08 15:23] Alicia Frakture: Leesha reaches for the mugs and hands a gold."Thanks, get some ale for my friends too please."
[2023/02/08 15:24] Sonja Bikergrrl: (A quick word on medieval law: attacking someone, without being armed, would be a minor assault. Not likely to get much comeback on that. Attacking -with- a weapon is a more serious assault with a deadly weapon, attracting more serious consequences. Murder (regardless of how) would likely be a capital offence.)

[2023/02/08 15:25] Sonja Bikergrrl: The barkeeper nods, takes the gold. "I'll bring the change with the food, friends." The woman waits for him to go before puffing on her pipe again. "So what are you really doing here?"
[2023/02/08 15:27] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "A courier job out to someone living in the woods," she says, in an honest yet incomplete answer.
[2023/02/08 15:28] Sonja Bikergrrl: She nods thoughtfully. "I have a small task out in the woods too. Are you heading north west, by chance?"
[2023/02/08 15:28] Alicia Frakture: /me nods as she takes a drink
[2023/02/08 15:29] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: (( Are we heading northwest? ))
[2023/02/08 15:29] Alicia Frakture: Maaan why there have to be directions and stuff
[2023/02/08 15:29] Sonja Bikergrrl: "We should maybe band together?" She pauses, as the barkeeper returns, placing down two plates before you. It looks like some meat pie with potato and peas. (Yep, the trail you want is NW of here).
[2023/02/08 15:32] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looks at the food as she places her wrench on the table."Looks good." Before at Debben, what do you think?"
[2023/02/08 15:32] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "A party of three is safer than a team of two," she agrees, glancing over to thank the barkeeper for the meal. "oooh, that's an excellent looking pie."
[2023/02/08 15:33] Sonja Bikergrrl: Two kids skitter over and peer at you over the table. "You're short," one says to Debben. "And you're green!" the other says to Leesha, as if you had no idea of this and they were both very observant and clever.
[2023/02/08 15:34] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I'm still taller than you are," she answers back. "At least for today. Maybe if you check back in a week you'll be the taller one."
[2023/02/08 15:36] Alicia Frakture: /me leans over and looks at the kid that called her green and smiles."Yes I am green, You are right."
[2023/02/08 15:36] Sonja Bikergrrl: An exasperated barkeeper returns quickly. "Kids! Stop annoying customers, back to your chores! Sorry, friends." The kids look at you both with wide curious eyes, before reluctantly returning to work, looking back at you every few seconds.
[2023/02/08 15:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Young kids, so funny," the woman says, before quaffing some more of her ale.
[2023/02/08 15:37] Alicia Frakture: It's okay. Usually hearing things like that involve weapons pointed at me so this was neat.
[2023/02/08 15:38] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben works on her pie first, exploring how it has developed it's spices (if any) and will get through a decent amount of it before invoking a quaff of her ale.
[2023/02/08 15:39] Sonja Bikergrrl: The pie is fairly good, well cooked with herbs and spices to bring out a good flavour. It's not up to noble standards, but for travellers, it's definitely good.
[2023/02/08 15:39] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Sounds like you've faced a fair bit of danger," the woman says.
[2023/02/08 15:40] Alicia Frakture: Leesha takes a few bites of her pie."Such is life ya know."
[2023/02/08 15:41] Sonja Bikergrrl: "We should get a good nights' rest. We should meet after the cock crows in the morning."
[2023/02/08 15:42] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Might I ask what your venture out to the woods means to accomplish?" she inquires, before taking a sip of her ale.
[2023/02/08 15:43] Sonja Bikergrrl: She takes a swig of ale. "Of course. I'm hoping to retreive a minor lost religious tract, sacred to my order."
[2023/02/08 15:44] Alicia Frakture: Leesha nods as she finishes her ale and continues on her pie. coughing hearing that."Wait..." Her voice lowering."Cleric?"
[2023/02/08 15:45] Sonja Bikergrrl: She bows her head a little. "Acolyte priestess, to the Lady of Flowers, may her blooms ever bloom."
[2023/02/08 15:46] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "A tract.... so it's a book or a scroll sort of thing?"
[2023/02/08 15:47] Sonja Bikergrrl: "A short ceremony, long ago lost, rumoured to be out this way."
[2023/02/08 15:47] Alicia Frakture: Leesha just smiles finishing her food."I'm gonna let you smart ones talk." Before she moves to the bar and looks at the bartender.
[2023/02/08 15:48] Sonja Bikergrrl: "It's getting late and I should turn in," the woman says.
[2023/02/08 15:48] Sonja Bikergrrl: The barkeeper notices the look as he is wiping a glass clean. He approaches quickly. "May I be of service?"
[2023/02/08 15:49] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "How much would a room be for the night?"
[2023/02/08 15:49] Alicia Frakture: Yeah got a weird question... You got any milk? Goat or otherwise? She pauses..."And that."
[2023/02/08 15:50] Sonja Bikergrrl: "A room is one silver for the night. Includes breakfast."
[2023/02/08 15:50] Sonja Bikergrrl: "We have some goat's milk, would a mugful do?"
[2023/02/08 15:51] Alicia Frakture: /me nods."Yeah that would be great." as she produces a couple silvers."Here ya go, for the milk and two rooms."
[2023/02/08 15:53] Sonja Bikergrrl: And so arrangements for the night are set, the woman rises... "See you when the cock crows," she reminds you, and the barkeeper directs you both to the rooms, promising to send his son up shortly with the milk.
[2023/02/08 15:54] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Agreed," she answers, finishing her pie and sides before heading up as well, knowing they'll need to get up right around first light. "Might sleep in my clothes so I just have to grab my boots to head out."
[2023/02/08 15:56] Sonja Bikergrrl: The milk arrives, carried by a wide eyed child, full of curiousity but clearly strictly instructed to not trouble anyone. The night passes without incident, until you're roused by a loud COCK A DOODLE DOO! - and when you return to the large hall, there's the table, two platters of bread and cheese, and an empty platter before your new friend. "I woke early," she says.
[2023/02/08 15:56] Alicia Frakture: "Sounds like a plan."She responds but yeah I can hold off on the leather. uncomfortable sleeping in the stuff." She pauses remembering she bout extra ales and kept the three but finished one. looking around she takes the ales to a nearby table."Here ya go, on me." before walking to her room.

[2023/02/08 15:57] Sonja Bikergrrl: The kids' eyes nearly pop right out of his head!
[2023/02/08 15:58] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben mentally notes that their traveling partner seems to have a fairly loose understanding of how much things are worth but doesn't comment on it, moving to sit by the platter of bread and cheese. "A quick breakfast to get us going?"
[2023/02/08 15:59] Sonja Bikergrrl: "It's standard fare. It's good. Best eat it up, I'm not sure when we'll get such comfy lodgings," the woman says.
[2023/02/08 16:00] Alicia Frakture: Leesha nods as she sits down."Looks good." Before she begins eating
[2023/02/08 16:00] Sonja Bikergrrl: Presumeably after breakfast, you head on out?
[2023/02/08 16:00] Alicia Frakture: Yep
[2023/02/08 16:02] Sonja Bikergrrl: It's a clear path to the north west, fairly well travelled, but after a mile or two the farms get sparser, the trees more numerous, the trail less travelled, until it's clear you are in a wood, on a seldom used trail, with settlements far behind you. It seems a bit gloomy and quiet; clearly no one travels this way much. The miles and hours pass by, the sun rising, then falling in the sky.
[2023/02/08 16:04] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "All this for a stack of pies," she laments. "It'll be nice when I'm an important enough wizard to send people on quests for pies."
[2023/02/08 16:05] Alicia Frakture: Leesha walks, her eyes scanning for any trouble."Better be good pies for this."
[2023/02/08 16:05] Sonja Bikergrrl: The woman glances at you at the mention of pies and wizards, but she says nothing. It's starting to get dark, you can see what looks like a farmhouse up ahead.
[2023/02/08 16:07] Alicia Frakture: That look like a good place to stop for the night?
[2023/02/08 16:07] Sonja Bikergrrl: "It does, at least we'd have shelter, company, and warmth."
[2023/02/08 16:09] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Sounds good enough to me. At the worst, a place to set up our tents in their front yard."
[2023/02/08 16:09] Sonja Bikergrrl: What are you going to do?
[2023/02/08 16:10] Alicia Frakture: Leesha nods as she begins gathering wood during the walk."We're gonna need a fire."
[2023/02/08 16:11] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben will head up to the farmhouse and knock on the front door if no one greets them.

[2023/02/08 16:16] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: It's starting to be evening, right? "Hello?" She knocks again and then steps back from the door a bit, just in case something comes out swinging.
[2023/02/08 16:17] Sonja Bikergrrl: You knock harder on the door... nothing happens.
[2023/02/08 16:17] Alicia Frakture: Leesha walks up."So, are we good?"
[2023/02/08 16:18] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "No, they aren't answering."
[2023/02/08 16:18] Sonja Bikergrrl: d20 for Leesha

[2023/02/08 16:19] Sonja Bikergrrl: Leesha rolls an 8, and notices... the house is in complete darkness. Not a light, at all, anywhere in sight. And it's completely silent.
[2023/02/08 16:21] Alicia Frakture: Looks dark... want me to knock just in case?
[2023/02/08 16:21] Sonja Bikergrrl: You knock... nothing happens. Unless you don't knock, in which case nothing also happens.
[2023/02/08 16:21] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "If you want. I'm kinda inclined to just set up a tent and leave them be."
[2023/02/08 16:22] Alicia Frakture: Leesha punches the door to knock.
[2023/02/08 16:22] Sonja Bikergrrl: The knock this time is loud and echoes throught the house. Nothing happens, though.
[2023/02/08 16:23] Alicia Frakture: Sounds empty
[2023/02/08 16:23] Sonja Bikergrrl: sounds like no one is home, certainly
[2023/02/08 16:23] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Agreed. I still don't think it's smart to mess with it. I'm not gonna loot a farmhouse, or be accused of it."
[2023/02/08 16:24] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She heads closer to where the road meets the path to the house and starts setting up her tent there.
[2023/02/08 16:24] Sonja Bikergrrl: "We're just going to camp out here? When there's a house right there?"
[2023/02/08 16:25] Alicia Frakture: Leesha shakes her head."If we're that close to the road we could have bandit problems. We can go in here and stay close to the door if need be."
[2023/02/08 16:26] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "It's not our house?"
[2023/02/08 16:27] Alicia Frakture: From the looks of it, it's not anyones house
[2023/02/08 16:27] Sonja Bikergrrl: "From the looks of it, it's going to be dark soon."
[2023/02/08 16:29] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben rubs her face. "Ugh, this is going to be like that haunted slum my little brother tried to make us overnight in."

[2023/02/08 16:30] Sonja Bikergrrl: By the looks of it, it's a plain three room house, central living room, store room, bedroom.
[2023/02/08 16:31] Alicia Frakture: Leesha pushes opens the door and steps in."Helloooo, anyone here?"
[2023/02/08 16:32] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben grumbles but takes up the rear, collecting the tent-stuff she'd started to take out.
[2023/02/08 16:32] Sonja Bikergrrl: The door opens easily. There's no one inside, nor any answer or sound of life. You do get to roll the d20 again, though

[2023/02/08 16:33] Sonja Bikergrrl: A 4: by the looks of it, whoever was here last packed everything away neatly and tidily. It's as if they knew they were going away.

[2023/02/08 16:34] Sonja Bikergrrl: Doubtful, they left everything. Or at least, everything you'd expect to see.
[2023/02/08 16:34] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looks around. "this is a plus, they did not leave here in a rush so nothing was attacking"
[2023/02/08 16:34] Sonja Bikergrrl: "It's like they just put their affairs in order and left."
[2023/02/08 16:35] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Maybe they decided this forest was too spooky. or they got drafted."
[2023/02/08 16:35] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Maybe. And maybe we better turn in."
[2023/02/08 16:36] Alicia Frakture: Leesha nods.*Is there a fireplace?*

[2023/02/08 16:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: There's a large fireplace for cooking and heating. The storeroom is indeed to one side, door ajar. What might be the bedroom door is closed.

[2023/02/08 16:38] Alicia Frakture: Leesha moves to the fireplace and begins a fire."We have some supplies. we should eat before we rest."

[2023/02/08 16:40] Alicia Frakture: Leesha starts cooking a basic stew relying on her secondary skill of cooking to make it edible and tasty

[2023/02/08 16:42] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She'll check inside the bedroom for corpses before closing it and starting to set up some bedrolls.
